The Fife Short-term Housing Support and Homelessness Services Public Social Partnership (PSP) was formally established on 1st April 2016 with the signing of the formal partnership agreement. The PSP is a partnership between Fife Council and 12 service providers and its primary functions are;

  • To deliver commissioned short-term housing and homelessness services on behalf of the council,
  • To undertake a review of current service provision.

Support for homeless or potentially homeless people in Fife has been successfully provided by a number of local and national third sector organisations on behalf of Fife Council for many years. Whilst existing arrangements between the council and service providers has ensured that service users have received high quality support, a formal partnership between the council and the service providers will provide further opportunities to improve services for clients.

The review will examine all aspects of the current range of services delivered by the PSP and ensure that they meet the future needs of homeless or potentially homeless people against a backdrop of budget challenges and major changes to social welfare. The review will also seek to fully engage with service users in the redesign of services process.

“Quotes”

Robert Aldridge – Chair of the PSP Governance Group;

‘The PSP offers an exciting opportunity for homelessness services across Fife to work together to prevent and tackle homelessness. By working in partnership we aim to provide better services and make best use of all our resources.’

Cllr Judy Hamilton – Executive spokesperson for housing

The PSP ‘Launch Event’ has been organised to coincide with a full Fife Council meeting on Thursday 30th June 2016 where the opportunity will be taken to provide information and advice to local councillors and staff on the aims of the PSP. New ways of integrated working in the current public sector financial climate is vital to our continued support for vulnerable homeless people in Fife. We value the important partnership with the voluntary sector and Housing Associations to ensure that people have the best possible support and help to achieve their potential”.
