here to help

Volunteer

Our clients benefit a great deal from the knowledge, experience and expertise of volunteers. And we couldn’t run our charity shop, the Cairn Centre in Kirkcaldy, without the kind people who generously donate their time.

Volunteering in our shop will give you retail experience and immense rewards in seeing exactly how Trust in Fife helps local people.

We’re also looking for help behind the scenes and out on the road to assist drivers running our collection and delivery service.

If you’re looking for an immensely rewarding use of your time, get in touch via cairncentre2@trustinfife.co.uk. And if you need encouragement to join us, perhaps it’s best to hear directly from some of our invaluable volunteers.

Volunteer stories

My name I Siobhan, I'm a single parent with two children. I had been a full time mum for a long time and after a while being out of work I came into the Cairn Centre off my own back and asked if I could volunteer.  I started off three days a week, then four and then five and here I am now four and a half years later and I can do pretty much everything in the shop with my eyes closed.

Since coming here the people I have met and the skills I have picked up have really boosted my confidence.  Being here has helped with my depression and building my confidence.  Everybody’s good to get on. I would highly recommend coming here.  Especially to anyone who is going through a hard time and is spending a lot of time on their own at home.  Having this place to come to has helped bring me on in lots of ways and has become a really important part of my life.

Volunteer stories

“When a change in personal circumstances left me with a lot more spare time I looked for a charitable and rewarding way to spend it. I visited a good few charity shops and Trust in Fife’s Cairn Centre was exactly what I’d hoped to find. All the staff are so friendly, helpful truly compassionate. I’ve loved meeting new people, especially local customers who really benefit from the charity. And perhaps best of all is seeing how the donations directly benefit local people who need it most....”
